1st Annual Fight Summit @ Flamingo Hilton Hotel
Las Vegas, NV (December 17-19, 2010)
This was exactly what I was hoping for, an expo dedicated ONLY to businesses dealing with the MMA industry......The attendees were top named managers, world renowned trainers, U.S. and Canadian promoters. They had workshops that were beneficial and educational on all types of topics concerning how to improve or advance your business in the MMA world. It was nice to see the Nevada Athletic Commission make an appearance along with the River Cree Combative Sports Commission going over important issues for the upcoming year.
Don't get me wrong, fan expos are fun and they do have THE most important part of the sport...but it's always nice to know that we have a choice in what type of expos we would like to attend. I am looking forward to next years FIGHT SUMMIT. Hope to see your there!!
MMA World Expo @ Jacob Javits Center
New York, NY (November 12-13, 2010)
WOW...the Expo was DEAD!
MMA Sports Extravaganza @ trump taj mahol
Atlantic City, NJ (October 22-24, 2010)
There were tons of exhibitors selling everything from clothing to vitamins to gear and even themselves! Kidding...but they did have some famous fighters there signing autographs. It wasn't a very extensive expo, so it didn't take me much time to see all I had to see. I even ran into Shonie Carter, Mr. International himself before the main event and had a nice conversation with him. Such a nice guy! We went to the main event that evening - presented by Lou Neglia. Not a bad event. Hey, there was even a few female fights that night (in the ring)!!
MMA XPLOSION WEIGH-IN @ HARD rock hotel
Las Vegas, NV (October 9, 2010)
As the room started filling up with fighters, spectators and the press, I noticed the mass confusion that was lingering in the air. This always reminds me why MedLic was created. It's nice to know when you go to our website, you will never have to feel or deal with chaos. I noticed when Lance Wipf (a MedLic Member) was called up to the commission's table everything went smoothly, while other fighters' were having to deal with missing medicals or having issues getting licensed. The Commission usually has to be at a weigh-in at least for a couple of hours dealing with these types of issues. If all the fighters' were in MedLic's database, the time at a weigh-in would be cut in half. I know one day when MedLic has been adopted and utilized state to state, we will all look back and remember the crazy days of having to deal with medicals and licensing!
KING OF THE CAGE WEIGH-IN @ foxwood's resort
Groton, CT (September 16, 2010 )
Being in the NYC metro area, I was fortunate enough to be invited by Ken Reeles of the Manshantucket Tribal Commission to attend the King of the Cage weigh in for King of the Cage. Before the event even began, MedLic was called upon not only by the Matchmaker of the event, Aaron Richman, but by the Mike Low who handled the medical and licensing of the fighters for the event. They were in a serious situation with a headliner and needed assistance in clearing him to fight. Team MedLic to the rescue! With our quick response time and knowledge in acquiring doctors, we were able to not only find the correct medical doctor needed but managed to even save fighter about $1,000 on the exam that was needed! That's what we do! So even though the headliner wasn't able to be cleared due to unforseen medical issues, the event was a success!
UFC FAN EXPO - John b hynes convention center
Boston, MA (August 27, 2010)
Another Fan Expo...this time I was wise enough to buy my tickets at the door! Oh yes...I walked right in, cut the line and looked for the first available rep that was free! A total wait time of 0 seconds. My all time record. So, once inside, the wait to get actually in the main door was WAY to long. At the expo in Vegas, once you paid, you walked it, even though you were early. These guys made us wait until 2 minutes after the start time. Fans in line were not very happy and were getting very impatient. As I entered the doors, I noticed that there were not very many booths. Where were all the vendors? I was very disappointed to find out that over half of the booths were selling clothing! Not very impressive. I walked through the whole entire expo in less than 30 minutes and wanted to leave. Mainly fans, not a lot of fighters or gyms around. This type of expo is good for fans looking for autographs and memorabilia. Business wise...not so much. So stay tuned for our up and coming adventures of...Team MedLic on Location!
aNNUAL conf - Association OF Boxing Commissions Conference
New Orleans, LA (June 18, 2010)
MedLic attended the ABC's Annual Conference for the second year running. The previous year was not only our first trip to New Orleans, but our first presentation to the ABC, as well. As our second year in business, we set up a booth during Registration for two days. We connected with all the Commissions attending, spoke about our services and met with many new faces. We believe it was a very successful event and are happy the we were invited back for the 2nd time! Thank you ABC and thank you Tim for having us! This year, we are proud to annouce MedLic officially became an Associated Member of the ABC. We look forward to seeing everyone at the annual meeting next year in DC and plan of presenting all of our new successes and transformations we have accomplished over the year - TEAM MEDLIC
UFC Fan Expo @ Mandalay Bay hotel & Casino
Las Vegas, NV (May 28-30, 2010)
WOW!! What a crazy two days!! After waiting in line for tickets for 2 hours that we purchased in advance, we finally entered into the Expo. Word of warning...if going to expos and they offer you tickets ahead of time, DON'T DO IT! The line for buying tickets at the door was a 10-15 minute wait! Go figure!! In our group that day was myself - Rebecca Johnson, my business partner Jan Hubbard and our ever so appreciated business associate Brett Kawczynski, Owner of MMA Museum. Anyway, back to the highlights. There were so many people, fans and industry leaders, booths, companies selling T-shirts and other items! It was a crowded, HOT mess. We did manage to connect with old IFL fighters and coaches and made many new contacts with gyms, trainers and managers. We took tons of pictures also! Check them out on Facebook! Looking forward to the next one in Boston! Hope to see familiar faces there! - TEAM MEDLIC
MEDLIC VISITS las vegas TAPOUT GYM
Las Vegas, NV (January 2010)
I can't tell you how excited I was to have been approached by Shawn Tompkins (Former IFL Coach) asking questions concerning MedLic's services. Once I explained to him how MedLic works and how it will alleviate a lot of time and stress for him as a manager, he immediately wanted me stop by the gym and present the company to his fighters. I arrived at the gym right before training was over and watched how Shawn trained with such dedication and experience that I new his fighters' would adapt to MedLic's concepts and new ideas instantly. Within a couple of days, I started having fighters' calling in wanting to sign up. Since then, MedLic has been assisting fighters and commissions non-stop nationwide. Ask and inquire at any of your local MMA or Boxing training facilities near you whether MedLic will be presenting any time soon! |
